WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING A 3- OR 4-DAY BALKAN GET-TOGETHER ON THE BIG ISLAND WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR OR TWO?

We're considering having a low-budget event, possibly at the UH campus in Hilo, possibly in a botanical garden or other location in West Hawaii, and possibly back-to-back with one of the workshops in Honolulu sponsored by the International Folk Dancers of Hawaii.

Our concept would be not to hire famous teachers, but rather to teach each other dances from the standard repertory, on a volunteer basis.  Maybe some of the participants could play live music as well for the evening parties, maybe we could splurge a little on some professional musicians, or maybe we could get by with recorded music.

We need to hear from people who would seriously consider this kind of event, or anyone who has tried it and has words of wisdom to share with us.  Please email Kelly Pomeroy at the link above to let us know what you think and/or to be put on our mailing list.  Please tell your spam filter to allow through any message with the words "folk dance" in the subject line, so you'll be sure to get anything we may send out.
